Televideo & Distance Counseling

“Words of comfort, skillfully administered, are the oldest therapy known to man.”
– Louis Nizer –

Even pre-pandemic there was convincing research showing the many benefits of telehealth. But if the thought of meeting online feels impersonal or makes you nervous, I encourage you to give it a try. Telehealth offers the same benefits as traditional in-person counseling. What’s more, telehealth sessions are reimbursed no differently than traditional counseling sessions.

I hear a lot of talk about when things “get back to normal again” and whether distance counseling will lose its popularity. But I’ve also witnessed dozens of Alaskan practitioners close their brick-and-mortar practice over the last year-and-a-half in lieu of transitioning exclusively to telehealth. And they don’t plan on looking back. I believe telehealth is here to stay.

I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant online platform for telehealth sessions. Access is easy and convenient. Whether at home, in your car, or in a private work-space, you can have sessions without having to travel or risk exposure to your environment. I will continue to meet with clients on site if that is their preference and as long as it is safe to do so. But telehealth should be considered an excellent alternative for those who are unable to attend their sessions in person.
